Instructions to Split Screen with a
All Laptop/Chromebook devices
Manually
On all Laptop or Chromebook devices that are using browser windows (Windows/Mac OS/Chrome OS) you can manually resize and arrange the windows.
- If your window is full screen click the button to make it a window
- Windows/Chrome OS: Square or double square in the top right corner of the window
- Mac OS: Green circle in the top left corner of the window
- Windows/Chrome OS: Square or double square in the top right corner of the window
- Once it is a window move it to the left or right of your screen and grab the bottom corner to resize the window to fit your need.
Split Screen on a Chromebook
Way 1: Maximize button
Note: this doesn't work for the Zoom app. It must be done manually (see above)
- Click and hold the square in the top right corner of the window
- Drag to the left or right onto the arrow that appears.
- Repeat to put a window on the other half of the screen
Way 2: Keyboard Commands
- Hold the ALT key
- Press the [ or ] key to move the window to the left ( ALT + [ ) or right ( ALT + ] ) side of the screen.

Way 3: Manually
Split Screen on a Windows Laptop
Way 1: Drag windows to the edges of the screen
- Click and hold to grab the top of the window
- Drag the window to the left or right edge of the screen until your cursor touches the edge
- The computer will show you an outline of where the window will end up
- The computer will show you an outline of where the window will end up
- Release the window to half screen it
- Repeat with a second window on the other side of the screen
Way 2: Keyboard Commands
- Press and hold the Windows Button
- Press the left or right arrow keys to move the window to the left or right half of the screen

Split Screen on a Mac Laptop
Way 1: Apple Split View
- Press and hold on the green button at the top left of the window
- Choose "Tile window to the Left/Right of screen"
- Release the button
- The computer will put the window on one side of the screen and show you other open windows to put on the other
- Choose the second window you want split screened

Way 2: Manually
Chrome Browser Extension (PC/Mac)
If you are using the Chrome browser you can load two extensions to split screen Chrome and put the windows back together. The extensions only partially work on Chromebooks and are not recommended.
Extensions:
Tab Scissors: Extension page (go here to install)
Click the extension to move the currently selected Chrome tab and any to the right of it to the right half of the screen. Tabs to the left of the selected tab will stay on the left half of the screen.
Tab Glue: Extension page (go here to install)
Click the extension to put ALL Chrome tabs back together into a single window.
